Feline Café FAQs

These are questions that we get often. We've answered them for you!

Can I bring my cat?

Unfortunately, no. Our space is dedicated to helping our rescue kitties and finding them adoptive homes. Adding a new cat to their space is a careful process and can be stressful for cats. Not to mention, cats don't like to be transported much! If you are looking to surrender a cat, you may fill out the application form from Furry Tales here.

Are children allowed into the cat area?

For the health and happiness of both humans and cats, no kids under 12 are allowed in the cat area. Most facilities that have live animals will have regulations around children and an age limit. We have created this rule based on health & safety of the cats as well as liability insurance concerns. The kiddos are welcome to visit and enjoy treats in the café area seating and watch the cats through our big windows!

Where do the cats come from?

We are currently fostering cats from Furry Tales Cat Rescue and all cats are up for adoption! The cats are rescued from unfortunate circumstances, they get veterinary care and then they are placed here to be fostered. They live here full time and we take care of them until they get adopted. See our page About the Cats.

How can I help?

There are many ways to help us and our cause! You can check out our Support Page for more information.

How many cats do you have today?

We typically have anywhere from 6 to 12 cats in our cat lounge every day. Adoptions happen very quickly so the best place to check is the cork board when you enter the café. We update our cat board daily so you can see how many cats we have and their adoption status.

Can I adopt a cat from Feline Café?

Yes! Cats at the café are up for adoption. Information on the current cats and adoption process is posted in the café. If you fall in love during your visit, you may fill out an application and follow the application process that the rescue has in place. Here is how the adoption process works.

Why do you have rules in the cat zone?

Our rescue cats live in the café and it is our responsibility to give them a happy place to live until they get adopted. Rules are in place for the health and safety of the cats, of our guests and our staff. The safer they feel, the more friendly they will be! See the Rules page for more details.

Do you take reservations?

We do not take reservations due to the nature of our coffee shop, but we recommend visiting early in the morning when it's less busy.

What is your menu like?

Our coffee shop menu focuses on coffee drinks, desserts, sandwiches and salads. The varieties change daily. See the menu here.

We love all animals, so our café menu is all vegan and sourced ethically as much as possible. We also offer gluten-free and nut-free options. We have something for everyone!

What happens to the cats at night?

The cats are rescues and we provide them a temporary home until they get adopted. Not to worry - cats are very independent. We will still make sure they are well taken care of before closing up for the night. The cats will be happy to have some quiet time at the end of a long day cuddling and playing.

Will I get cat hair in my food?

Unlikely. The café is specifically designed to keep cats and food in separate spaces.

Is there an admission fee?

Admission to enter the cat lounge:

- $5 without a purchase

- $3 with any purchase

Per person, per visit. Must be 12 years old and up.

This contributes to our costs of paying for the space, caring for the cats, paying our staff a living wage and keeping our doors open. You can bring food and beverages purchases into the cat zone, but no outside food or beverages are permitted. See our How it Works page.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

It is unfortunately not. Our vintage building was designed with steps at the entrance and no way to add a ramp that doesn't violate bylaws. There is plenty of space inside, but getting a wheelchair through the entrance is the main issue. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We need volunteers to help out in the cat zone everyday. Note that we require volunteers to be 17 yrs and older. Fill out the form on our Volunteer page to get involved.
