FAQs

Feline Café FAQs

These are questions that we get often. We've answered them for you!

Are you still open?

Due to COVID-19, we have had to temporarily close the Cat Lounge to walk-in visitors. We've recently launched a Reservation system to ensure proper sanitation between groups and social distancing. Cat Lounge visit bookings are paused until the end of the provincial Shutdown.

If you want to drop by, we just launched our Mini Grocery and Gift Shop! You can Visit Us in-person or see our Online Store!

Can I bring my cat?

Unfortunately, no. Our space is dedicated to helping our rescue kitties and finding them adoptive homes. Adding a new cat to their space is a careful process and can be stressful for cats. Not to mention, cats don't like to be transported much!

Are children allowed into the cat area?

For the health and happiness of both humans and cats, no kids under 12 are allowed in the cat area. Most facilities that have live animals will have regulations around children and an age limit. We have created this rule based on health & safety of the cats as well as liability insurance concerns. The kiddos are welcome to visit and enjoy treats in the café area seating and watch the cats through our big windows!

Where do the cats come from?

The cats are rescued from unfortunate circumstances, they get veterinary care and then they are placed here to be fostered. They live here full time, we take care of them until they get adopted. See their individual profiles and Meet the Felines here!

How can I help?

There are many ways to help us and our cause! You can check out our Support Page for more information, or you can Donate below.

How many cats do you have today?

We typically have anywhere from 6 to 10 cats in our cat lounge every day. Adoptions happen very quickly so the best place to check is the posters when you enter the café. We update our ''Today's Cats'' board daily so you can see how many cats we have and their adoption status.

Can I adopt a cat from Feline Café?

Yes! Cats at the café are up for adoption. Information on the current cats and adoption process is posted in the café. If you fall in love with an available cat, you may fill out an application and follow the application process that we have on our website under Meet the Felines.

Why do you have rules in the Cat Lounge?

Our rescue cats live in the café and it is our responsibility to give them a happy place to live until they get adopted. Rules are in place for the health and safety of the cats, of our guests and our staff. The safer they feel, the more friendly they will be!

Do you take reservations?

Yes. After COVID-19, reservations are required to visit the Cat Lounge. This ensures that we are able to adhere to social distancing guidelines, sanitize the area and the cat toys in between each group visit.

What is your menu like?

Our coffee shop menu focuses on coffee drinks and other beverages. Our other food production is limited at this time.

We love all animals, so our café menu is all vegan and sourced ethically as much as possible. We also offer gluten-free options.

What happens to the cats at night?

The cats are rescues and we provide them a temporary home until they get adopted. Not to worry - cats are very independent. We will still make sure they are well taken care of before closing up for the night. The cats will be happy to have some quiet time at the end of a long day cuddling and playing.

Will I get cat hair in my food?

Unlikely. The café is specifically designed to keep cats and food in separate spaces

Is there an admission fee?

Yes, there is an entry fee per person to enter the Cat Lounge. This contributes to our costs of paying for the space, caring for the cats and their veterinary care, paying our staff a living wage and keeping our doors open.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

It is unfortunately not. Our vintage building was designed with steps at the entrance and no way to add a ramp that doesn't violate bylaws. There is plenty of space inside, but getting a wheelchair through the entrance is the main issue. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We need volunteers to help out in the Cat Lounge everyday. Note that we require volunteers to be 17 yrs and older. Fill out the form on our Volunteer page to get involved.
